◆ In-world canon · §35 / §37The skeleton is most of the body's mass, so the material you pick cascades into everything else — what you weigh, whether you float, what you can ride, how hard you are to break, and what it takes to fix you. The ETI chose osmium for sheer durability; the cost is a body that behaves like a small engine block. Switch materials below and read the consequences.
The canon body (§35) uses an osmium skeleton — osmium is the densest stable element at 22.59 g/cm³, about 3× iron and 5× titanium — giving a total mass around 450 lb (204 kg), roughly three adult humans. Mass here scales with skeleton density (the skeleton dominates), anchored to the canon osmium figure; it's illustrative, not a structural FEA.
Consequences are canon: minimum viable personal vehicle is a heavy-duty motorcycle; entering water means "immediate forceful sinking"; recharge runs an 8-hour cycle for ~2 weeks of continuous motion, with a "go to sleep" safety mode. Crucially, the brain and deep osmium structure are irreparable in the field — the precision fabrication needed doesn't exist until the bootstrap tech-tree reaches it (§36). Lighter skeletons trade away durability for mobility and buoyancy.
